Dear Future Brides & Couples: A Wedding Is More Than One Day
B
BIG Buds TeamDear Future Brides & Couples
We truly understand that weddings are a big financial commitment.
We understand budgets. We understand the pressure that comes with making large financial decisions. We understand the weight of looking at quotes, comparing suppliers, and wondering how it is possible to spend so much on what seems like “just one day.”
But we do not want couples to make those decisions based only on the idea that they are spending money on one day.
A wedding is never just one day.
That day is the final result of months of planning, communication, preparation, design, sourcing, problem-solving, labour, setup, transport, execution, and follow-through. It is often the combined work of 10 or more people across different services and suppliers, all contributing their time, skills, equipment, experience, and energy to make that day come together beautifully.
Behind every wedding service are real people.
Not always huge companies. Not always big teams. Often just ordinary people sitting behind computers for hours, answering messages, preparing quotes, sending invoices, doing Facebook and Instagram marketing, managing stock, planning logistics, coordinating staff, solving last-minute issues, and then still showing up to give proper service and a quality final product.
A florist is not only charging for flowers.
A photographer is not only charging for the hours spent shooting.
A DJ is not only charging for music on the day.
A coordinator is not only charging to “be there.”
Each individual service has its own planning process, admin time, preparation, costs, and responsibilities.
There are also many costs involved in running a wedding business that may not always appear as separate lines on an invoice, such as:
labour
fuel and travel
admin time
insurance
equipment maintenance
software and systems
communication time
staffing
setup and breakdown
stock replacement
wear and tear
risk management
years of experience and training
Most wedding suppliers are not here to charge extravagant amounts of money for no reason. Most are simply trying to do their work well, build an honest living, support their families, and deliver the level of service couples deserve.
At the same time, we also understand that there are real concerns in the wedding industry.
Some couples are afraid of being overcharged. Some are afraid of being scammed. Some worry that once money has been paid, communication will stop. Others are concerned that wedding planning will become more stressful than joyful.
Those concerns are real, and they matter.
That is why we believe in transparent communication, clear systems, and practical tools that help couples make informed decisions. We believe couples should have access to realistic pricing guidance, trustworthy suppliers, honest expectations, and service that truly supports them.
Wedding pricing is not only about the final look of the flowers, décor, photos, food, music, or stationery on the day.
It is also about the people behind it.
The planning behind it.
The labour behind it.
The risk behind it.
The communication behind it.
The responsibility behind it.
So yes, ask questions. Compare your options. Be wise with your budget. But please remember: you are not simply paying for one day.
You are investing in the many hands, hours, systems, and hearts that help build it.
And above all, we want to encourage couples to bring God into these decisions too.
“In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.” — Proverbs 3:6
Pray before big decisions. Commit your day to the Lord. Pause and pray before speaking. Seek God for wisdom and direction. Acknowledge Him before every quote. Invite Him into every meeting. Let Him guide not only your wedding day, but also the journey that leads up to it.
That is what we live by, and it is our prayer that every couple would move through this season with wisdom, peace, clarity, and confidence.
A wedding may be celebrated in one day.
But it is built over many weeks and months. 🤍
